As Celine has gotten older and entered into toddlerhood, she has outgrown her play n play. So now we needed to look into other options for a travel bed for our toddler as we take her on our next adventures.

Below we look at a few options and their advantages and disadvantages.

Inflatable Travel Beds for Toddlers

A simple solution for a travel bed is an inflatable mattress. Compact and easy to set up, they are great options for travel beds for your toddler. Below are a few of the options we looked at.

Lunvon Kids Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed

Lunvon is a company that specializes in inflatable beds. This toddler bed is simply a smaller version of the adult bed with bumpers added. It is quite comfortable but weighs quite a bit at 7lbs. The Lunvon comes with a hand pump and works with standard crib sheets. The mattress is suitable for up to a 5-year-old but only has a 2-year warranty.

EnerPlex Kids Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed

A great midrange inflatable toddler travel bed the EnerPlex mattress has a nice plush mattress that is removable and fits all standard sheets. Plus it comes with a high output electric fan that inflates it in seconds.

The Shrunks – Toddler Travel Bed

On the pricier side there is The Shrunks. This company specializes in inflatables for infants. The mattress is slightly more compact than the Lunvon, but still weighs more at 7.5 lbs. The Shrunks comes with an electric pump. Plus it comes with a lifetime warranty, which is nice, since the mattress is rated to 150 lbs., which should last several years.

Intex Kidz Travel Bed

For a cheaper option, Intex has 2 options for travel beds for toddlers. The first option is similar to the others with a large bumper around the perimeter. Built by a company that specializes in all things inflatable, furniture, boats and pools, the bed is solidly built. That being said it is the heaviest of the bunch.

The cheapest option on this list is the Intex Cozy Kids Airbed. Quite simply a mini version of their adult bed. There are no bumpers to keep your little one from rolling off. The bed also does not come with a pump. Although the airhole is the same one you’d find on a beach ball. So you could just inflate the mattress manually. The small airhole also makes the mattress very difficult to deflate.

As well as inflatable beds, there were a few non-inflatable travel beds for toddlers as well.

The simplest solution for a travel bed for a toddler is a Nap Mat. This nap mat is the lightest and second cheapest option for a travel bed for a toddler. The mat is a combination mat, blanket and pillow. The whole mat is machine washable and packs neatly into its own carrying case. The only disadvantage is the mat isn’t that thick, so it can be uncomfortable.

On the other extreme is the Millard Portable Travel Nap Mat. This travel bed for a toddler is a full bed. Built using similar foam as many full mattresses, this toddler travel bed is very comfortable. Although, being constructed out of this foam, the bed does not compact well. It can only be folded in half, making it the largest of the bunch when packed. Also, the mattress does not fit standard sheets. Thankfully the material is removable and machine washable.

Taking queue from Celine’s daycare we looked at a cot option. The Regalo cot is a great option for a travel bed for your toddler. It folds up nice and small, and opens up into a full size bed.
